Teaching is a rewarding profession but involves tough challenges. It is also a fact that no two teachers could be the same. They might have some common qualities that you’ll find in all great teachers. If you are considering a career in teaching or evaluating a potential school for your toddlers, review some qualities that make someone an outstanding teacher. 

1. Patient

If you are in a teaching profession, patience is a key requisite because the grasping ability varies from child to child. So, be ready to face the same questions over and over again as well as to answer them every time . 

2. An Engaging Personality and Teaching Style

A great teacher is very engaging and holds the attention of students in all discussions.

3. Clear Objectives for Lessons

A great teacher establishes clear objectives for each lesson and works to meet those specific objectives during each class.

4. Knowledge

If you do not have a proper knowledge of the subject-matter yourself, it’s difficult to teach it to someone else. Teachers must have thorough knowledge of inter-related topics for a subject.  

5. Excellent communicator

To be the best possible teacher you must be an effective communicator. However, in this area you are not just limited to being a skilled communicator to your students although that is a must. You must also be a strong communicator with parents of your students as well as your faculty/staff team within in your building. A great teacher is passionate about teaching and working with children. They are excited about influencing students’ lives and understand the impact they have.

Students will never take interest in a classroom experience if they feel ignored and unheeded by the teacher. So a good listening habit can help teachers understand the kids well.

A great teacher develops a strong rapport with students and establishes trusting relationships.

10. Innovative

“Innovation is the key to excellence” Only the teaching programs cannot help prospective teachers for all of the challenges that may come to them while on the job. Being innovative is a must skill for becoming an ideal teacher.
